What I Wore to Work

As a continuation to an earlier Style Diary post about 1 dress worn 3 ways, I’m adding yet another way to style the same old Calvin Klein neutral grey, cowl neck dress. I love challenging myself to never wear an outfit the same way more than once.

Here, I’m wearing the Calvin Klein dress that I bought at TJ Maxx for about $39. I’ve paired it with a fun pair of polka dot tights, $15 leopard flats from Forever 21 and a blue silk cardigan that my friend bought me. I found the necklace for about $25. I can’t tell you how many compliments I received over the outfit, the tights and the necklace. Little did they know how little I spent on the entire outfit. Every year there seems to be a new focus on denim. This past fall/winter’s season was all about the cargo skinny jean. Though I initially resisted, I finally gave into the casual cool look when I found this lovely charcoal zip-ankle cargo jean at Off 5th. It was originally $100 but I bought the “SL8” pair for about $30. Gotta love the deal!

Here are a couple looks where I pair the jeans with grey plaid flats and a charcoal fedora- a perfect weekend combination.

The “Just Sweet” flats and the Fedora were each only $30 or less.

The striped long sleeved shirt and flowery cardigan were cheap and cheerful finds from Forever 21. Both were under $25 each.

I see this as the perfect weekend outfit to go sightseeing in or to attend a casual weekend brunch. Can you believe I found this sweet Chanel purse at a consignment store?

The next outfit pairs fancy with casual. I love mixing it up and often seek to wear contradictions. Here I pair a fancier sequin black stretch sweater with my casual new cargos and again wear it with the same hat and shoes for a darker edgier look than the previously seen feminine floral pairing.
