Breakfast At Tiffany’s – A Blue Box Cafe Review

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S

Did you know that you could have breakfast at Tiffany’s now?  Yes!  It’s true!  Holly Golightly wannabes no longer have to settle for a simple croissant and coffee and be left longingly looking into the store.  Now you can walk right into the Blue Box Cafe located on 727 5th Avenue in New York City and sit down for the most fabulous breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea!  It opened up in November, 2017 and I finally scored a reservation.  Keep reading because I have all the details and pictures to share with you!

It is just as fabulous as it sounds!  The newly renovated 4th floor is where you’ll find the jewel of a restaurant. And along the way you’ll discover Tiffany blue suitcases, globes, baby items and even a bicycle!  Make sure to walk around and discover cute Instagramable moments like this sofa!

DECOR

Like Tiffany Blue?  I hope so because you will be completely enveloped in it.  “Both the café and redesign of the Home & Accessories floor reflect a modern luxury experience,” said Reed Krakoff, Tiffany’s chief artistic officer, in a statement. “The space is experimental and experiential — a window into the new Tiffany.”

THE FOOD

Honestly, I could have just sat there taking in the true blue sights and been stupidly happy but bonus, I got to eat delicious food too lol!  Breakfast is $29.  Lunch is $39.  Afternoon tea is $49.  My friend and I ordered one breakfast item (the avocado toast), and the afternoon tea set.  We found that that was more than enough food for the two of us to share.  Note to the moms, there is no kids’ menu. And all patrons taking a seat must order separately (This is why I decided against bringing my 6 year old -there was no way she’d be able to finish a full adult sized entree).  Click here to see the full menu.

OVERALL

This is a great spot to celebrate a special occasion (they even have cake in the shape of a Tiffany’s box!!), or simply come for an Instagramable and very memorable meal like we did.   Thanks Melissa for coming with me on such a rainy Manhattan morning!

We both highly recommend this as a fabulous, girly meetup.  Because 1. Tiffany’s so gorgeously presented the delicious food.  And 2. we found the price to be fair given the atmosphere and 5th Avenue setting.

TIPS

It’s a tiny restaurant and you must make reservations (no walk-ins as they are always booked).  Check for openings every morning at 9am to book your reservation in advance.  It may take a while but I hear that new open bookings come up every morning for 30 days in advance.  So keep checking and persistence will pay off.  Let me know how you like it when you do!

Pip’s Island, An Immersive Theatrical Times Square Show Perfect For You And Your Family

New York City has so many fun, family-friendly things to offer.  Whether it be, crazy cool pop-ups, Broadway shows, bus tours, Instagramable stores, or girly pink restaurants, NY has it all.  One of the most unique experiences we tried a couple years ago, was called Pip’s Island, an immersive theater experience which has returned for a permanent stay in Times Square!  And we were so excited to be invited back to preview the all-new performance!

What is it?

It’s part theater, part interactive performance, part puppet show, part digital wonderland.  The kids are asked to help save Pip’s Island from darkness and evil and instead of passively sitting and watching a story unfold, they are asked to don an explorer’s jacket and follow along step-by-step, room-by-room.  Immediately engaging, it sparks curiosity and creativity.  And I loved how it provided a surprising escape from our everyday world.

What Can You And Kids Expect?

You’re led by humorous actors who lead you on a somewhat mysterious journey.  You’ll meet Pip, Pebble and Finn (the good guys) as well as the villain, Joules Volter and his army of moles who are determined to take over Pip’s Island.  You’ll learn signature moves and chants to ward off evil, collect achievement badges called “sparks” all the while practicing teamwork and STEAM curriculum elements. By you, I mean the kids..the parents are allowed to rest on benches and seats throughout and simply let the kiddie explorers be the day’s hero.  (Though you’re more than welcome to participate..I gave them bonus points for letting the parents rest and watch!)  Pictures were not allowed on this journey so you’ll have to use your imagination and go check it out yourselves!

The interactive and immensely entertaining journey is about an hour-long and each room and pathway is filled with dazzling, detailed 3D design, digital surprises and Disney-worthy sets.  It was like jumping into a storybook or video game and I highly recommend it for kids aged 4-10.

You can buy tickets in advance (for a $10 discount) at PipsIsland.com.  There are discounts available for schools and groups, as well as birthday party packages (what a creative way to celebrate a birthday, huh?)  And accompanying adults need their own ticket.  Note – they close Tuesdays.  But you as my followers and readers can get 10% off by clicking here and using code Pip10

While in Times Square, you’ll also want to check out, Ocean Odyssey, a digital, underwater wonderland or Gulliver’s Gate.where you get to travel the world through incredible, miniaturized scenes.  Click through those prior posts for more info on what to do in Times Square with kids!

And as always make sure to follow along our daily adventures on Instagram where in stories, we show all the behind the scenes video and more!
