5 of the Best Fashion Books for Your Minifashionista

Do you love fashion and are you rearing a budding minifashionista? If so, I know you’ll both enjoy this round-up of our favorite fashion books for girls ages 3-7 too!

  1.  S is for Style by Tina and Anthony Coorey

This chic hardcover book is my new go to present for any new fashion momma and minifashionista!  So beautiful, it is worthy of a coffee table presence! And I’m talking about the living room – not just your kid’s room!  And there truly is no more fashionable way to introduce the alphabet! (Think A for Anna Wintour, C for Cartier).  For a child like mine who was made to dress as Anna Wintour at age 2 for her Halloween costume, and for a child who has been attending fashion shows with me since she was a baby, this book made perfect sense lol!  I almost wanted to chant the rhyming pages to my husband cuz Lord knows he knows less about fashion icons, fashion brands and fashion week than Juliet does.   Heck, she’s even met some of these people in the book – which reminds me I need to print that picture of Rachel Zoe carrying Juliet out and add it into this book!
  2. From Farm to Big City  by KahriAnne Kerr

I SO relate to this book coming from a small town myself and having grown up watching the fashion shows on TV always yearning for a bigger more cosmopolitan city.  So it is with great nostalgia that I share reading sessions with this book in hand because it sparks conversations of how life in the NYC is so different than much of the rest of the world.  And it also brings us back to the time when we met the author of this book, the creator of these fashion icon cookies and other plush items, KahriAnne Kerr.  What an honor it was for Juliet to meet a real fashion designer (her future dream job haha)
  3. What Would Fashion Look Like If They Included All of Us  – by Universal Standard
This is a very progressive and very much needed, book that promotes the concept of inclusion.  I think this should be in the bookshelves of every budding fashionista because it shows that beauty comes in all colors, shapes and sizes.  What a great message!  For just $21 including s&h, you can gift this hardcover book – a welcomed addition to any bookshelf I’m sure.  But you can also download a free digital copy from their website!!  How amazing is that!??
  4. Shoe La La by Karen Beaumont and LeUyen Pham
shoe la la, toddler books, best fashion books for kidsThis was gifted to us by a fellow fashionista and it became Juliet’s favorite book as a toddler.  With its catchy rhymes and glittery pages, I could see why!  My daughter even memorized the words to the entire book at age 3 and there are actually a lot of pages jam-packed into this one board book!  So you can imagine how many times she had asked to have me read this to her haha
  5. Juno Valentine and the Fantastic Fashion Adventure by Eva Chen
juno valentine, best fashion books for kidsSee what stepping into the shoes of famous women might be like. We love this book because not only does it feature fun fashions and the most amazing shoe collection, but it takes you through an educational journey highlighting famous, fearless, powerful women in history.  (Think Serena Williams, Frida Kahlo, Cleopatra and Lady Gaga!)  It is all about girl power and who doesn’t love that!

FabCam – New York Fashion Week

As part II to my earlier Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week fashionistas post, this post will feature fashionistas caught by my FabCam.  For those of you who don’t already know, I shoot fellow fashionistas whose style I admire and take interest in.  There’s no fashion bashing here.  It’s all love!

Below is a lovely blonde who was wearing what looked like a vintage-styled blouse with Fall’s trendy snakeskin and the Valentino shoes that I’ve been dying for.

The blonde pictured above is a fellow blogger.  What caught my eye about her (besides her striking beauty) was that striking leather jacket.  But I love how she paired it with a swingy, simple dress, cute booties and a clutch that offered a bright pop of color.

Okay, so there are a lot of blonde beauties walking the tents of New York Fashion Week.  This one was a bit of a risk taker.  Check out those shoes!  They’re what I’d imagine an ultra-fabulous astronaut might rock.  I thought her outfit was super fun in that stunning color with the polka dots peeking out – polka dots are super trendy this fall.

I’m looking at this one and I’m thinking, model?  She certainly had the height and skinniness down and like much of whom you saw within the tents was some amazing eye candy.  Don’t you love her mustard colored Prada?  Mustard is a trend color this fall and this girl included it with professional ease.  The little fitted jacket looks great with the printed dress (is that Missoni?) and paired with those funky boots.

If you’re a regular reader, you know how I love Chanel purses and the black and white color theme so it’s no wonder this fashionista’s outfit caught my eye.  In Rachel Zoe’s words, those booties are “ba.na.nas!”  Readers, you should know that I’m up for selling my Chanel, calf-skin, chain-link purse.  just click here to check it out!

Since I’m on a roll with the blondes, I figured I’d make it the running theme of this FabCam post.  This lovely blonde reminded me of me.  She made a boo boo under her left knee!  I wore a band-aid like this for weeks after falling in my heels.  I blame the uneven concrete sidewalk.  (should have sued lol)  But ok back to the fashion.  Do you not love the mix of rough and casual (i.e. the military jacket) next to the elegant silk sheath and sparkly necklace?  Talk about casual cool.

Ok so who is your favorite?
