Back To School Book Exchange, Nerd Party
I heart nerds. Always have, always will.
So when summer started coming to its close, I felt like Fab Kids should have one last hurrah in the park while the weather was still nice and so I decided to have a nerdy back-to-school-themed play date.
Even toddlers go to school. My daughter at 18 months old this fall was enrolled in music, school skills, ballet as well as art for instance. So to get into the back to school spirit, I thought it would be fun to get some toddlers together to do a book exchange. And as with all my themed play dates, the kids were asked to dress up in theme.
Some inspiration shots were featured on the Facebook and Instagram accounts to get guests excited and thinking about what to wear.
It was a fun mommy and me play date in the park. I supplied the picnic blankets and organized the book exchange. Here are some of the kids checking each other out. The one pictured on the left looks like she’s doing a little dance, doesn’t she?
All kids were asked to bring a book to trade in. And at arrival, each was given a number in exchange for their book. So the first person to arrive had first choice of all the books and so on and so on..
Here’s my little Juliet welcoming her guests.
We brought in Goodnight Ipad, a modern day spoof on Goodnight Moon as well as Lisa in New York figuring some modern NY mommy and kid duo would appreciate these. Don’t you love our little nerds? I can’t get enough of suspenders with bowties.
The play date was such a huge success that some might even call it a love fest.
All the kids went home with a new book and a gifted sippy cup or water bottle (from me). School is cool!
