Easter Posh Play Dates

I’ve never celebrated Easter so enthusiastically until becoming a mother.  There is something that is just so sweet and special about seeing your child get dolled up, hunt for eggs and interact with the Easter bunny.  This year, we were so excited, we celebrated all week with special activities, crafting, bunny desserts and a series of what I call posh play dates – highly stylized play dates with a dress-up theme and sponsors involved.  Read on for ideas and inspiration on how to host your own Easter themed play date or party this year!easter party planning ideas, easter party planning tips, easter decor, easter party ideas

Using items we already had from her bunny-themed HOP-py 3rd birthday party, we decorated our house in fun pops of colors and created an enticing dessert station.

It consisted of straw-bunny smoothies, a jelly bean tasting, cookies, cotton tails (cotton candy on sticks), bunny trail mix, rock candy, chocolates, Peeps, and fruit to nibble on.  My daughter said after tasting the black jellybeans that they were “rotten…something bad happened to these.”  hahah  I’m not a fan of licorice flavor either!

For entertainment, the kids had a bunny hop, Easter egg hunt around the living room, and coloring pages that Miffy sent us.  how to plan a kids easter party, easter party inspiration, easter party ideasThe beloved bunny, Miffy, also sent us tees for all the girls to style, the cutest coloring book, and ears to wear at the party!  Plus we received Miffy PJs for Juliet to sleep in.  Look at the girls doing the bunny hop on my couch!  I’d be hopping too if I received this awesome basket of surprises!

The Easter basket also included the most amazing, supersized Easter eggs by Zuru.  They’re called 5 surprises and they are so much fun for the kiddos to open up!  Does anyone else out there have kids who are obsessed with opening up tiny packages with these little presents? The girls kept squealing for joy!  The surprises skept coming and included fun girly items such as, mermaids, princesses, hair accessories, bracelets, hair ties and glitter glue! I highly recommend them for your girl’s Easter baskets!  Last year, we got J a real-life Easter bunny.  So of course, we had to bring her out for the kids to play with and take pictures with!  The bunny hung out at our decorated kids’ cafe before hopping off to play some hide and seek with them.

Oh what FUN we had!  Read on here, to see what else all the Fab Kids are hunting for (in terms of fashion).  There is still a week before the big holiday!  Let me know in the comments how you and your family are celebrating!

Special thank you to Miffy and Zuru for sending us fabulous gifts to share with our littles!

As always, all opinions expressed are my own.

Think Pink with Alice Longyu Gao and PERICURA During NYFW

What better way to celebrate New York Fashion Week than to dress up and envelop yourself in pink, glitter and fur?  According to Juliet (whose favorite color is pink), there is no better way!  Upon entering this pink, pop-up paradise, created by Alice Longyu Gao, she declared that she “never wanted to leave.”  Can you see why?nyc art installation, nyc pop up, alice gao, pink room pink party, pink art, harajuku girl photo credit Lumia Nocito

And yes, we had to dress up to match the space and celebrate all things PINK! pink room pink art, nyc pop up, art installation, harajuku girl, harajuku party, Alice Longyu Gao

It was as if we were hanging out with Alice in wonderland – a wonderland, entitled PERICURA that the performance artist/DJ describes as being “deconstructed me.”  Loving girly glam myself, I felt quite at home amongst the glitter wall and thought the room was simply delightful! Rolling around on the pink shag carpeting, it was clear that Juliet felt quite at home too.  pink party, times square pop up, harajuku girl, cool nycThe sparkly room, inspired by beauty and instant photo booths from Japan, reminded us of our time exploring Harajuku, Japan an area and culture that Alice obviously subscribed to.

The stunning installation was not just a piece of art turned selfie station though.  Special events and offerings included the reception party which we attended, DIY accessory making tutorials, celebrity hair styling by Kahh Spence from Kahh’s Shojo Manga Hair Station, 3D nail art by Mei Kawajiri of Mei’s Princess Nail Station, and Japaanese celebrity styling by Etsuna Otsuka of Etsuna’s Harajuku Apparel Atelier.  For schedule and pricing information, click here.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEA AND THE NAME OF THE INSTALLATION?   PERICURA demonstrates the universe in my head. PERICURA is my response to people—what made me to be this Alice, what I am into and inspired by. Most
importantly, I collect and transformed my knowledge and creativity via everything inside PERICURA. PERICURA as a whole, I did it for myself and it is for everybody to explore.  The name and the concept of making PERICURA is #MeAnimated. I am inspired by the
traditional Japanese photo machine—“Purikura”. I see people’s obsession towards those overly beautified photo strips across different cultures as an inspiration. So, I want to offer people an opportunity to experience alternative aesthetics in real life. For people to experience
PERICURA, I collaborated with hair looks and nail designs with Miho Kawajiri and Kahh Spence.

YOU SAY THE ROOM IS THE DECONSTRUCTED VERSION OF YOU.  IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?  Tender, Wacky and True
HOW LONG HAVE YOU DRESSED HARAJUKU STYLE?  WE LOVED SEEING ALL THE FASHIONS IN HARAJUKU, JAPAN.  Harajuku is a spirit that’s been with me since middle school
WHAT DO YOU HOPE GUESTS WILL TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR ART INSTALLATION? It is important to be bold and brave. Life is not worthy living if you are not trying to discover yourself
WHAT’s YOUR NEXT BIG PROJECT? I am working on my song right now, hoping to debut in Japan soon

THANK YOU to Alice for taking the time to answer our questions!  We loved your energy, passion for art, and cute sense of style!

There is still time to see the exhibit from 12noon-7pm today and tomorrow at the Moxy Times Square hotel.
