Fab Fetes: Dessert Tables
I’m a huge fan of Amy Atlas and her beautiful dessert table displays. 
So when I started my new job, I just had to call in and get an estimate. But my dreams of partnering with Amy and combining our creative minds came to a quick halt when I learned their prices begin at $8000.
8k for candy? I think not.
I’d rather go back to my earlier post where I dissected Amy’s work, analyzed the elements that made the tasty displays eye-catching successes and attempt to do it myself. You’ll see my summarized list of dos and dont’s from my previous entry. Here’s a video where she gives away a few of her secrets.
I plan to take these tips and save my work budget towards creating my own dessert table. I figure with a little shopping (linens, ribbons, patterned paper and colored candies) I should be able to create similar works of art. Now let’s see if I’ll have the TIME!
I love pretty/elegant dessert tables, too!! Especially for special occasions…I just have to keep an eye on the budget, because there is no limit when it comes to decorating:)

OOH I would love if you could post here your favorite online vendors for dessert table anything. Right now I’m wondering where to buy macaroons at a bulk rate.

You need to think about charging in two categories: Material cost + Your cost. I would say, know how much you plan to spend for the materials needed (display units, papers, backdrops, candies, desserts, delivery fees etc). Then consider adding a small upcharge to that. Then, estimate the amount of time you need to dedicate to the project. Everything from design consultations to the actual installation and breakdown need to be included and multiply that with your hourly fee. I hear Amy Atlas charges at minimum $700 per project no matter what the project is. You might need to consider what the minimum charge would be for yourself in order to make the project worth your time and effort. I hope this helps!

Where did you find the hot pink striped backdrop? I’ve been searching for something just like this to use on a client’s dessert table!
That table setup was not mine but you should be able to find a similar striped fabric at any fabric store. You could even do a quick search online for one. There are tons of great wholesalers who sell fabric online. I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.
