Read on because as a New Yorker who has lived in the area for 21 years, I’ve compiled all the little known ways to see shows without breaking the bank and I’m about to share ALL the insider tips!

1).Same day tickets 

Ask for “rush” tickets the day of the show that you want to see. New York New York tickets at 2nd row for instance were recently purchased for $30 . Normally rush tickets range from $30-$50. You’ll want to check out this link which has the policies for each show as they all vary.  If you’re spontaneous and flexible, there are a couple great ways to score last minute deals the day of! Download and use the TodayTix app for last minute unused ticket deals! OR head to a TKTS Booth (in Times Square, Lincoln Center, and Downtown Brooklyn), these booths offer same-day tickets at up to 50% off the regular price. (The Times Square line will be the longest). Or you could join TDF and visit their website to see what offers they have for advance sale.  Arriving early and being flexible with your show selection can increase your chances of finding great deals. Pro tip- download the TKTS app to find out what tickets are avail that day before you even arrive!

2). Save on ticket fees

which can really add up by skipping Ticketmaster and Telecharge charges and by going directly to the theater box office and paying directly. Websites like TodayTix, BroadwayBox, Rush.telecharge.com, Broadway direct, Social Toaster, Playbill.com and Goldstar regularly feature exclusive deals and promotions. Sign up for their newsletters or follow them on social media to stay updated on the latest offers. 

4). Enter a digital lottery.

I have friends who’ve done this daily and have scored coveted Hamilton tickets for $10 each! Click here! You have to be in it to win it as they say! Lucky seat is a digital lottery that allows you to play to win tickets for the next week instead of the day of.  Rush.telecharge.com for Broadway Lottery tickets. Also Broadway Direct has some Broadway show lotteries as well as Social Toaster.

5).Midweek and Matinee Performances:

Attending shows during less popular times can lead to substantial savings. Midweek performances, especially on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, tend to have lower demand, resulting in discounted tickets.
